What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've lost your Nissan keyfob or it has stopped working. Before you panic or call the dealer, go back and see where you last used it.
It's not a big deal to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. It's not long before you'll get the hang of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with the Nissan is an essential element of its sophisticated keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic systems to open doors and turn on the engine. It also has a convenient design, making it simple to keep in your pocket. A key fob also offers convenience features like locking out protection that ensures you don't leave the vehicle without keys inside.
Smart keys are wireless unlike the previous models which required you to insert the key into the ignition slot in order to access your vehicle's internal systems. When you get close to the vehicle your Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This may include locking or opening the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Certain smart key models come with a hidden metal valet key. The key can be pulled by a release that is located on the side of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox before giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket which can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
It is possible to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working as it should. The owner's manual will give guidelines on how to replace the batteries in most fobs.
Intelligent Key Fob
With the Nissan Intelligent Key Fob you can open your car doors and start its engine with the push of an button. You can also select a set of presets to meet your needs such as changing the mirrors and seat for maximum comfort. You can also control the music from your smartphone, meaning you'll never need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs come with an antenna built-in which sends an alert to your car when you push a button or come close to it. When your vehicle receives this signal it activates the system, opening or locking doors, starting the engine, and then opening the trunk. To test the fob remove yourself from your vehicle and click on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds then you have successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.

Batteries are required for the operation of Intelligent Key Fobs. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and efficiently replace it if the battery runs out. To do this, remove the key that is hidden from your key fob and open the compartment for its battery. Replace the battery with a brand new one after removing the previous one. Make sure the positive side of the new one is facing the same direction as the previous one did. Close the compartment for the battery, and then put the key back to its hidden place within the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to cool or heat their vehicles from outside, provided they're within the operating range. The ignition of the car can be activated by pressing the button on the key fob or mobile application. this link could also trigger climate control, allowing the driver to set their preferred temperature. Certain systems have two-way communication that lets the driver see what's happening inside their vehicle.
A low battery is the most frequent reason for your remote to stop not working. The key fob uses the battery, which is small and replaceable that lasts for about two years before it's time to be replaced. The battery can be changed easily, however you will be required to know where the hidden key is on your Intelligent Key Fob and how to open the compartment of the battery.
Flip your fob over, and then press the latch on the backside of the keypad. After the keypad has been opened take out the old batteries and replace them with new ones. Be sure that the new battery is the same dimensions and configuration of the previous one. Be sure to install the hidden key and rebuild the key fob properly before closing the outer case. Our parts department can assist you with replacing the battery on your Intelligent Key fob.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection prevents annoying lockouts due to the impedance relay failing. A special module in the power control unit monitors for the activity of the impedance relay, and then shuts down the output. This feature is available on vehicles that are equipped with the Smart Key system, or through the vehicle's personalization menu.
Many serious accidents have occurred due to a machine being started when it should have been completely turned off to prevent maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually the result of energy that was not released properly. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can prevent these accidents by making sure that machines remain completely off until the person who is authorized releases them.
The LOTO system is made up of a number of locks, tags and other devices that are used to isolate, secure the machine from electricity. All "affected", "authorized" and "qualified" personnel should be instructed on the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include but are not limited to locks, chains padlocks and wedges, adapter pins and self-locking fasteners. Each device is unique and labeled with the date and time it was put in use, the name and title of the authorized person and the reason for the lockout/tagout (repairs maintenance, repairs and so on.). It is essential to clearly state that these devices are not to be removed until the LOTO procedure is completed.
